You may notice, just possibly, some color changes here at Poppy Paperie. (LOL) We had a bit of a color palette cleanser with my last design and I wanted to make a bold transition to share with you my new graphic banner. A little about how I created this banner. The flowers and stems were hand drawn with a Wacom tablet using Adobe illustrator. I created these Poppies after being inspired by a target gift card that had a graphic poppy on it. A little info about why Poppies are important to me. Poppies are a flower of remembrance. if you ever get a chance to read the poem "In Flanders Fields" you will see some of the sentimental reason why I love this flower. Here is the history behind the poem. Monet talked about Poppies and their beauty. This painting reminds me of the delicate and bold beauty of the flower. and finally, as someone who love to plant flowers, Poppies are amazing. They thrive in adversity and can grow almost anywhere, yet they are delicate if they mistreated or transplanted inappropriately . Their color is bold but their petals are soft and delicate. To me these traits are very similar to how we are sometimes. Many of us go through adverse times, yet find ways to grow and thrive in them, we struggle when we are mistreated and some of us are bold from the exterior but our hearts are delicate.
Now....why are we talking about this Schtuff? Well, these are things that evoke feelings in me....then in turn inspire my creativity. our experiences and our relationships can act as a catalyst to inspiration. I wish I were someone who sketches out her projects, but to be honest, I wing it. I usually think about an image and the reason I am creating. Then I just start cutting and piecing together. Here is one I made using Hero arts Images and Prism Papers. I wanted a spring feel with a mix of playful and elegant. I started with the focal image, the sentiment in this case. I wanted to frame it up, but in a playful way. then added the piercing to coordinate with the ribbon. The white flowers we added to give it a touch of elegance. It doesn't always work out, but it's how my mind works.(When it works LOL!) I truly admire those who have organized creative minds and have sketchbooks and idea notebooks. I have tried to do this, just doesn't work yet for me.
How do you create?
