Welcome back friends! Are you enjoying the MFT September Release Countdown?
I've got two fun things to share with you today... both involve this card... so keep scrolling and reading to learn all about them!
Notice how perfectly aligned these leaves are with the tree base? Well... I'm just not that naturally precise... I cheated... and will do it again!!! LOL!
1. Die cut a cardstock template using Out on a Limb Die-namics. I die cut the leaves first then the tree base/trunk die... like this.
Now... you have an alignment template... and you can use it over and over again! SO KEEP IT!!! I store mine with my dies in a baggie.
2. Prep your tree... get the base glued or stamped... both will work with this template!
3. Tack the template down with scotch tape and start creating your pattern if you are creating one. If not you can skip this step. Hint: Remove some of the tack from your tape by sticking it to your hand/skin first. This will make it about as sticky as a post it and make it easy to peel away!
4. Take the leaves out one at a time and glue them down. I find that liquid glue works best for this but make sure it's used sparingly so that you don't glue your template down too! Hint: Use a tool such as the QuickStick Pick Up Tool to make this easy! You can also use rolled up adhesive tape on the wood end of a thin paint brush... just make sure to remove some of the tack before using!
I've always been a fan on sponging. I like the soft way that ink acts with it in comparison. So I sponged the Jumbo Letter stencil in the background.
And... this card features colors from the current MFT Color Palette Challenge too!
We have six days left in this MFT September Release Countdown. All the new products will be available to purchase starting on September 16th pm Eastern time (7pm Pacific). During this countdown you can enter to win fabulous prizes over on the MFT blog... where you will also find links to the other DT members that have projects to share today!
Thank for all you kind words about Out on a Limb and Out on a Limb Die-namics! Please let me know if you have any questions. Keep coming back to see my sneak peeks...I've got some other fun tutorials and projects to share!
Thanks for poppying by, friends!
