Whooooo loves you!
Welcome back! So...I just HAD to create some owl pillow boxes for today's post! When I told MFT way back in June that I wanted to create a pillow box, Jody showed me some super cute ones made into owls. They are an old stand by for pillow boxes, but I wanted to share my version that includes Homespun Hearts, and Hearts & Stitches stamp sets along with the new Square Pillow Box and Rustic Hearts Die-namics.
Here is my sweet girl owl. You could easily add a little flower or bow over her ear to step her up a bit.
I used Homespun Hearts and Rustic Hearts on each owl for the heart face and feet and single leaf image. Miss Pink here also shows a small heart and the Be Mine sentiment.
This little sweetie has a repeated Zigzag pattern created using Hearts & Stitches.
Here is a view of the underside... and how the feet are attached.
The small flap is still able to open because I trimmed the heart after adhering it. I curled over the feet for a realistic perching look.
This little happy brown owl has his arms a little different... holding a little banner!
The leaf image is overlapped on all the owl wings to creat a "feather" look.
The Happy Valentine's day! sentiment from Homespun Hearts was curved on the block before stamping... then I trimmed it with the curve by hand. This little fellow is sporting the heart/dot image from Hearts & Stitches on his tummy.
Ok... Here is their little guy. (Imagine how cute these would be as baby shower favors!) Oh, I should mention that I just hand trimmed the beaks from an orange heart I stamped. Also almost everything is sponged lightly with Kraft Ink.
I double stamped the heart row image for a fuller look on his belly. This would be fun in two different colors too. Just a little note about the belly sections... I actually ran the stamped Rounded Banner STAX image through the die cutting machine with the Square Pillow Box Die-namice to get the right score line to cut off the bottom.
There is a nice close up of his eyes. I've seen so many variations of owl eyes... I combed through every MFT Die-namics in my stash to find the perfect everything. These were so wonderfully fun to create!
Here are the dies that I used in addition to the new Square Pillow Box Die-namics. The supply links will show the sets these came from but I wanted to show you each component.
The wings are cut then I used the same oval to re-cut to create a wing like shape.
Ok... one little card to finish off the teaser projects. After spending the day owl making, I wanted to create a quick and clean card.
A fun trick with the buttons is to try to line up the tread part of the buttons with a single stitch.
So easy to do with clear stamps too!
Here is the inside...
The only sentiment is on the inside... I often forget that that's OK. LOL!
Well, that wraps it up for this month's MFT teasers of Homespun Hearts, and Hearts & Stitches stamp sets, Square Pillow Box andRustic Hearts Die-namics! PLEASE let me know if I can answer any questions. I'll answer them in the comments section.
