Ribbon Favorites

It's MAY!!! That means it's time for another Papertrey Ink Sr. DT challenge post. We've got some ribbon trick for yo this month!

I love tying bows with Papertrey Ink's dotted ribbons. Have you ever wondered how to tie a bow making sure the dots shows on both tails? Well that's the little trick I'm sharing today!

I got brave and put together my first video. :) I sort of feel like that rebel tail on the bow needs taming... so that's one of the tricks I'm showing... there are a few other tips and tricks too!

I know I've got a ton to learn about making Video... but you have to start somewhere! LOL! Hopefully those tips helped if this is a new concept to you. (if not, I'm sure you will get a giggle over my silly bunny talk! LOL!) Um... yep, unscripted. heehee.

Here is a fun card I created using Some of my favorite stamp sets and showing that exact matching tail bow from the video!

 

   The rocking chair is from Chair-ished. I thought it would look cute with a polka dot background, created with the Polka Dot Basics II stamp set. A Little Argyle is used for creating the dotted diamond background.
 
 

Here's a close up with that fun Raspberry Fizz Swiss Dot bow! Oh... I also used RV 14 Copic markers to color Button twine to match. How fun is that! Love the color pop! The button is just glued right one. Such a happy bow!

Spoiler Alert! Papertrey Ink anniversary set projects!

Just a quick post today. I'm writing up supply lists for publications today as well as tweaking some things in preparation for May's stamp release. Holy COW! I'm so excited about my up in coming stamp set... It will inspire you as well as make your life easier!!!

I thought it would be fun to share my Papertrey Ink anniversary set projects today.

On thing that I try to do is use a stamp in a style that isn't obvious for it. Round & Round is very crisp and clean and has a modern feel. So I went a little shabby on this one!

   

Initially I had planned on working more Spring Rain in... but in the end I liked the focal color pop it had.
 

I used PTI flower dies to frame the circle image and create a word flower. The Crystals around the circle bring your eye right to the center too. I just love how this turned out! Soft and chic!

This little gift bag was created with a sweet little girl in mind. He new baby sister was just born and I got them bother presents. Little Lotti was given finger puppets in this little treasure!

 

I kept it simple but didn't ignore the details!
 

So sweet and crisp feeling! The supply lists can be found here if you would like them.

I'm off... Laundry is calling, actually screaming and projects need to be finished! OHHhhh.... and don't forget that there is just a few days left to enter this sketch challenge to with some Zva bling!

Out with the old... in with the new!

We constantly get little advertisement magnets in the mail or with something that we buy and the kids HAVE to keep them... like a little prize or something. After a short time I am ready to chuck them, but just cant. It seems like a waste. So I set them aside for something... anything useful. It hit me the other day, when our new refrigerator arrived, just how fantastic the Papertrey Ink Dies would work with them and LET ME JUST TELL YOU... my brain got to spinning!

So I pulled out some of my favorite Dies and went to work! I thought it would be fun to have everything coordinate for a small group of things.

I started with this flower die from the Beautiful Blooms II #2 collection and cut some Hawaiian Shores felt.

   

Next I trimmed off a portion of the HUGE advertisement magnetic sheet I had stashed away. I then pulled off some of the Ad paper... you can sand this as well. The idea is to lessen the bulk a little as well as creating a more porous surface to adhere the felt to.
 

After die cutting the magnetic sheet I popped in the die cut felt flower to align it.
 

Here's a little trick... I like to use Papertrey's Button Twine but sometimes the needles that have the large enough eye for it are too fat for the button holes. If you can, plan on using a two hole button then just thread the twin through and snip the ends so that there are two bare ends up.
 

It's a real snap to just pop a Pure Poppy button on now!
 

I typically use Fabri-Tac for adhering felt. It has a serious grab and sinks into the felt a little.
 

Here is the little cluster I made with some of the flower dies... as well as the Butterfly Die!
 

Tell me... which one do you want to have on your fridge???  The ad magnets or personalized sweetness! Did you notice the little butterfly one that I stamped with paint using fancy flourishes     ?

  

And... here are a few more examples of what you can make with other dies and paper too!

I made this one for Ella using fillable frames #3 die, Fillable Fames #3 stamp set and Outlines Alphabet... and yes... all my girls want and will have their own. They can just pop their important even reminder right onto the fridge and I wont get mixed up with who's event it is!
 

How could I resist breaking out the On My Couch Die collection to make a chair magnet. No need for any reason why! TOO CUTE! The Chair outline image is from On My Couch and the polka dot inside is from On My couch Additions

 

I HAD to try a felt couch... I mean really... Had to! Imagine giving some of these as a welcome to the neighborhood gift!
 

Now... these aren't as strong as some of the magnets you would buy in the store but SO much less expensive and you also get a chance to recycle!I have several more ideas to share... hopefully in the next month or so I will be able to do that.

Happy Earth Day!

Hi friends! It's been crazy busy here at the Johnson home. We've been attending concerts for the younger girls' school,  attending the BYU-Idaho Sinfonietta (here in Anacortes) and hosting two of the cellists overnight, High school student conferences, Prom dress hunting... Ok... so we've been a little busy! With four daughters there is bound to be busy and drama... and busy drama! LOL! But during it all I did remember Earth day! :)

Here is a little card that I put together for the occasion...

  

I used Pebbles Tree House papers and Chips and Papertrey Ink's Wonderfully Whimsical and Green Thumb for the sentiments. This is a little new for me... all these patterns and chipboard. Yum! I might just get used to how fun it is to pull it together.

I love how Papertrey's Pure Poppy and Ripe Avocado cardstock work so well with this line. Little bits of scrap ribbon and buttons with twine really give it an additional Earthy feel huh!

I plan on sneaking some flower seeds into this for a friend..she is a gardening guru and will love the thought!

Chair-ished... The Best of the Best!

It's a tradition of mine to post what I call the Best of the Best post after an image set is released. The Papertrey Ink Design Team really is the BEST team in the stamping industry... overflowing with talent! Chair-ished was so well represented by the team... I am totally blown away! Here is the Best of the Best of Chair-ished!

Erin Lincoln nearly made me cry tears of joy when I saw her card. SHE IS BRILLIANT!

 

Debbie Olson's card took my breath away with it's masculine color combination and PERFECT coloring. I love all her little details!
 

Betsy Veldman has the most amazing knack with color! I love every little chair! (And talk about details! whoa!)
 

Pine (Heather Nichols) created a simple wow card that is simply... well, WOW! LOVE the patterned paper choice with this card!
 

Mish (Michelle Wooderson) can mix patterns like no other... and check out her cool wood floor coloring!
 

Melissa Phillips also has a knack with patterns and colors. Check out her LOVEly card!  Everything is coordinated so well... art I tell ya!

  

Niki Estes created an AWESOME pattern with the Wingback chair. Everything is bright and cheery!  It warms me just looking at it!

Maile Belles created this super sweet Rocking chair card... with an incredible color combination!
 

Dawn McVey created a smart wood chair... fun huh! Has a bit of an Ikea Vibe huh!
 

Kim Hughes used a fun color combination with the Mod chair for a great celebration card! I love all the white space too!
 

And I thought I would share one of my favorite project that I made too...

  

As an illustrator, there is a thrill seeing an image that you've worked hours on turn out so well. I love how great the dog turned out and it's just super sweet next to the kitty!

Nichole Heady really made this set shine in these projects... Here and Here. AMAZING!

April Zva Creative DT Blog Hop!

Are you ready fun some fun???

We, The Zva Creative DT, are all joining together today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a TON of fun!

Each designer's blog will share a unique sketch that was created with paper...and there's a twist! It's a sketch that's designed with both scrapbooker's and card makers in mind. In addition to having the design laid out for you, each blog will have it's own color combo. The sketch can be turned and the color placement can be changed around. If you see a flower element on a sketch, please feel free to change it to something else if you like. Each sketch is a 6 x 6 page, but you can adapt the design to be horizontal, vertical or even a circle! The colors don't have to be exact, just stay within the color family that's provided (including using a lighter or darker shade). Adding neutrals like white, brown or black is ok...and "making it your own" is always fun to see!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She is linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. There are 12 design team members, so be prepared to be inspired along the way.

We would LOVE to see how YOU create with ZVA CREATIVE products! Please use this sketch to create any type of project (card, layout, home decor etc.) Your project must include Zva products to be in the running for one of the prizes. Add a link to your project in the "Mr. Linky" You will have until11:59 PST, Thursday, April 29th to play along.

Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a wonderful Zva Creative prize package...Woohooo! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to participate on as many blogs as you can (but you do not need to use all 13 sketches). Here is the specific sketch that I was asked to use!

  

I sort of used black in place of the Navy blue... That's what happens when you aren't paying attention to your monitor very well from across the room. You can pretend it's Navy 'K! ;)

I used the Zva Creative corner pearl cluster in the corner in place of the white element. (PE-03CA-101) The little purple flowers are one of my favorite Zva products! So sweet and delicate!

  

Chair-ished is a great stamp set with fun Chair images... I thought this Rocking Chair image would be great on a baby card... So I gave it a try!
 

This sentiment from Inside & Out: Baby is perfect...Isn't that fun! I used my A Little Argyle set to create a harlequin style background too.

You can see how neat the Argyle Impression plate is on this card too! So versatile! I added Vintage Cream Ink directly to the Ripe Avocado cardstock after it was impressed... and sponged ink onto the Vintage Cream cardstock.  Two totally different looks!

(BTW... this card it totally inspired by Melissa Phillips!)

Believe it or not... I have MORE projects to share with you for the April 2010 Papertrey Ink release!  Everything is now available!

here we go...

First off a grad card for one of the many friends that we have graduating this year! Anacortes High school's color are Purple and white... so I thought this fitting!

  

I used For the Graduate as well as A Little Argyle!

Next is a money holder card... another grad card. Hey, It's just around the corner and I need them ready to go! LOL! I usually give a little tidbit of moola. Every little bit adds up! 

I used Enjoy the Ride, A Little Argyle and Woodgrain.

This next project is for someone I know who just had a little baby girl!

 

Uses Year of Flowers: Sweet Pea and Inside & Out: Baby.

Well, that's my last few... Super fun stamps  to play with this month too!

Chair-ished and A Little Argyle day 5

Ahhh... it's the final day for the April 2010 Papertrey Ink release countdown! WOW! It's been quite the ride hasn't it! What are you the most excited about this month??? I would be in so much trouble if I weren't on the team!

I thought I would just re-post the details of the POPPYprints products that are being released this month through Papertrey Ink...

Here are a few last things I've made using these products!

Yes, another Christmas project. (I'm seasonally confused because of publication calls! LOL!) I made the pattern using A Little Argyle though... so had to share.

 
 
 

I used the smallest Dashed line and Solid Argyle group images together then filled in using the smallest diamond image using Raspberry Fizz ink.

I love using colors that are unique for Christmas projects! This totally retro color combo is very hot right now. There is a total era vibe going on here... can you feel it? 80's! hee hee! I could have gone neon but I got sick of neon back in the 80's and cant make myself go there again. LOL!

Next I wanted to show a card I created using Pine's newest set, Have a Ball! (Brilliant additions set!) I paired it with her new Fillable Frames #3 Die and frame Image.

I also used A Little Argyle on the Kraft background.  (the black strip on the side uses the woodgrain impression plate then is inked with white.)  Total Boy card? Well guess what? This is for my Daughter who played BBALL this year! She's not girly and will love this too!

Did you notice how the Basket Ball fit's perfectly in the scallop portions of the Large Scallop Die? (Freakin' Beans huh!!!) Just think of all the possibilities for that! (yes, soccer ball fits too!)

  

Just think about how easy this would be to customize or mass produce for team cards or Coaches!

Here is the last card for today... a masculine retirement card.

 

My grandpa used to have a favorite chair. When he retired he worked hard every day still in his garden and on his property. I remember watching TV and Movies with him in the evening... and he was always in his chair! He deserved a good rest!  As far as what I used on this card. The woodgrain impression plate is Kraft cardstock that has been rubbed with Vintage Cream ink. LOVE this result! The lower Dark Chocolate strip is impressed using the Argyle Impression plate. I used the Wingback chair image from Chair-ished for the focal image.

A Little Argyle is used to create the Argyle Pattern.

  

I stamped the large Dashed Argyle image first, then filled in the desired spaces with the Medium Diamond image. 

  Notice the dots? I haven't shared that yet. Something fun to add even more versatility to the set. (There is also a single dot image.)

  

After I stamped the Argyle pattern I stamped the Text image over everything.

I hope you have enjoyed this month's countdown. It's been a wonderful week... and there are SO many amazing projects in the gallery that the Design Team has created. It's blowing my mind! Make sure to put your seat belts on before you check them out! It's amazing to me how both my sets have been used for everything from Shabby Chic to Modern, Clean and fresh! WOW!

Chair-ished and A Little Argyle day 4

Are you ready for some more fun today? I've just been stamping my little heart out and loving it! I'm so excited to share some more cards with you today using my my newest POPPYprints (my stamp line with Papertrey Ink) Stamp sets, Chair-ished and A Little Argyle! I do have two posts today... so make sure to check them both out!

I had to make myself create a card NOT using A Little Argyle today! Can you say ADDICTED! It's hard not to steam roll ahead because the possibilities are so endless with that set!

Anyhow, this is the card I came up with using  Chair-ished and the little table and cups from On My Couch!

 

I hadn't used my Mod Chair as a focal chair yet so I thought I would do that. Most of the chairs in the set are inspired from actual chairs that I either spied online or the one I actually own... the Kitchen chair that Nichole featured in her dinner invitation card yesterday! (wasn't that a SMART card!) This particular Mod chair was one that I fell in love with though... it was a cool animal print too... very modern feeling!I may just have to buy it now! LOL!

  I just love how this Pretty Pastels paper looks like upholstery on the chairs. The images are quite cozy together... you could also put the table in between the chairs like a little bistro set. Super fun stuff huh! The rug image was stamped then masked before stamping the floor.
 

And we can't forget the inside of the card! It's such and easy thing to just add a few little papers and a stamped image to pull it all together!

Seriously... wouldn't you love to get this card because of the warmth in the sentiment!? Just imagine how wonderful your friend or loved one will feel getting it!
 

Next is a card using Becky's new set, Fly Away! (Amazing isn't it!)
 

I hand drew, cut out and stamped these little clouds. Look at how natural those A Little Argyle clouds look! (in Enchanted Evening and Spring Rain) And the Argyle Impression plate really adds dimension to the sky portion! 

Add the scalloped cloud layer on the bottom and you have a very tactile card! Some happy guys is getting this one!

Finally, this last card is one I made on Sunday, last minute too! We had a young man in our ward getting baptized so I needed a really masculine one, and fast!

  

I have to admit... It was actually hard to part with this one. I LOVE how the colors came together in the Argyle on the Ocean Tides cardstock. A Little Argyle is rockin' my word I tell ya!
 

I used this scripture from Heavenly Medley as the focal image. I'm hoping he will read it and remember to ask God for knowledge and wisdom when he needs it! Oh, and I used Nichole's new Mat Pack 1 die that was run through the Argyle Impression plate too. A few swipes of my Fresh Snow ink gave it even more texture!

Boys to Men

It's all about our guys tonight!!! So much fun! I have two posts... make sure to check them both out!

When I think of creating for the men in my life I think of who they are and what they are about. My Husband is into the outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing.... anything outside! My go to "feel" in creating for him is natural & Earthy. I usually think clean lines too. Most of the men that I would ever create for would like an earthy, uncomplicated but well thought out card that holds a masculine image and simple sentiment. So, think simple, natural, uncomplicated! So for today's Papertrey Ink Group post that's exactly what I created!

  

I adore these focal images from Masculine Motifs (Available April 15th)! I wanted to make it seem as if the Deer or Elk was walking on to the scene. The distressing on the images adds even more of a masculine touch!

Uncomplicated doesn't mean no thoughtful details though... this card utilizes several little details to bring it to life! While the color pallet is simply Dark Chocolate, Ripe Avocado and Vintage White... they are using is some unique ways. Choosing to use the Ripe avocado as the sentiment color makes it pop against the Kraft... and seems framed by the darker elements!

Paper piercing along the side helps add additional dimension. I used Background Basics: Woodgrain to kiss the Solid Argyle group image from A Little Argyle (both available April 15th). I love how woodsy it feels!

I showed this card to my husband and said..."would you feel comfortable GIVING this card?" he said "Totally!". That's one last tip I wanted to add about when it comes to creating masculine cards. Would they/he be willing to give it to a co-worker or male family member? Something to think about for sure!

There are so many possibilities with both of these new stamp sets! (Available April 15th through Papertrey Ink) There has been a boatload of excitement brewing over these new sets as well as the On My Couch Die Collection and the Argyle Impression plate! The other DT members are creating Jaw-dropping projects with these products too! You are bound to be overflowing with inspiration soon!

Are you ready for the worlds longest post? LOL! grab a snack and a class of ice water...here we go with the goodies!

I thought I would share an elegant card Featuring Chair-ished first.

 

Check out the "one of a kind" chair image that pulls the idea together with the friendship sentiment.  This particular chair is quite versatile and could be used to look like something to sit at the table, a vanity chair or an elegant side chair. I used Damask Designs to stamp the inside of the chair (Using the Masking technique) and added random glitter. The Damask image is also stamped on some Aqua Mist cardstock to complement the chair.

Lets talk a little about the Argyle pattern that I've created using A Little Argyle...
 

I used the Small Solid Argyle group  image in Aqua Mist then stamped the added small diamonds to the mix in Hawaiian Shores ink. The Small Dashed group image in Silver Encore ink was added last. There are a lot of little details to this card... including the Copic shadows under the chairs. (click for a larger view.)

Next I wanted to share a little note card set.

This first card features the Kitchen Table Chair, Dog and wood flooring images from Chair-ished and the kitty from On My Couch Additions. Also featured is my favorite sentiment set. These are two separate sentiments so that you can use one on the inside of a card if desired. Isn't it a warm and loving thought to send to someone.

 

The wood flooring image is a little wider than the circle that I punched out and is meant to work in a panel sort of scene. You will notice how I made the boards more slender at the top of the image. This gives it depth! Building a little scene just became easier!

Notice the Smallest Solid Argyle group image on the "wall". Sweet little pattern for a kitchen feel. (It was really tempting for me to add the little bee image from Flower Garden Additions to the wall, as if they were staring at it! But alas, I resisted! LOL!)

The background argyle was created with the Large Solid and Large Line Argyle Image using Lemon Tart and Orange Zest.

This next card shows the fun Chair Die again from the On My Couch Die Collection, On  My Couch additions  polka chair image, the pillow image from On My Couch and Argyle from A Little Argyle!

I used Pure Poppy and Berry Sorbet with this card. I love how the pillow looks fancy and stitched because of the argyle stamped into it!

The Dashed lines in this set really add a lot just by themselves!

Next is a more masculine card.(made if for my hubs)

Color tones can really change the mood of a card. The past two card used warm tones... this one uses cooler tones. I plan on sneaking this to Chris with a gift card to Blockbuster! He loves movies. You don't need an occasion to be thoughtful... sometimes it's more special when it's not an occasion!

Notice the Wingback chair? I stamped white cardstock with the image after I had impressed it with the Argyle Impression plate! A little sponging with Smokey Shadow ink really made it pop too!  I like how this gave the image an upholstered look! Oh... and I think this is the fist time you can see the floor lamp image too! More on that on another day. :) The sentiment is from On My Couch.  This card would also be a great partner with a book gift!

  

The set all together! Basically the same layout just a few changes for each one. :)

I was playing with pattern creating and took inspiration from one of the photos from my Argyle Inspiration post a few days ago.

 

I used Spring Rain cardstock as the base then stamped the dashed image in VersaMark. Next I filled in the pattern with The large diamond image using Hawaiian Shores and Landscape and the medium diamond in Spring Moss. Lastly I stamped the large dotted group image again but in True Black. Stamping the black last makes it even crisper looking. (I intentionally didn't attempt perfect placement because I wanted a more playful feel.)

Did you notice the twill? Here is a little photo showing how easy it is to create using the small dashed and diamond group images!

  

Isn't that just the funnest thing ever! Ohhhhh the possibilities for every occasion! A Little Argyle is simply MUST HAVE!

 

It's nice that a simple sentiment can just say it all! Ahhh... wouldn't you just love sitting in that rocking chair?!

 I thought I would show a quick photo of the Argyle Impression plate and the On My Couch Die Collection!

 

I can't even begin to count the couches and chairs I've cut out... now I get that beautiful polished rounded edge!  And I couldn't be more excited about this Argyle plate... I'm really loving how it can be used for whimsical, cute, shabby.... pretty much everything depending on the need! Here is a very quick card using it showing the horizontal orientation!

 

It's so nice to be able to use white space in such a pretty way! Look how well the Delightful Dalia Dies work with it!

Look at how lovely the impression is in this detailed photo!

Chair-ished and A Little Argyle day 2

My little creative heart is full today as I write this post. I've received so many wonderful messages and comments in excitement for my new products that are being released this month through Papertrey Ink! THANK YOU! I will be posting several projects up until the 15th of this month... when everything will be available for sale. (Right at midnight EST/9pm PST)

Off we go to the good stuff now!

This first card uses all but the rocking chair image from Chair-ished AND the Overstuffed chair line only image from On My Couch.

  

This really gives you a nice little peek at all the chairs. I love how they look all stamped together as a background! Can you guess which chair from Chair-ished is just like one I have in my home? There is the Retro Chair, The Cushion Back Chair, the kitchen table Chair, the Wingback and the rocking chair (not in this photo).

 

I am so pleased with how this Chair Die from the On My Couch Die set turned out! Such a polished and smooth look! I used a Zva Creative crystal flourish to frame it a bit. A sweet and simple card!

Sweet and simple is sort of the theme for today! :)

Here is a simple Argyle card using some of the individual images from A Little Argyle as well as the new Argyle Impression plate!

  

I say it all the time...but here I go again... People inspire me. Not their projects, THEM! I was reflecting back at my last CHA and how neat it was to see so many people. I had a flash in my memory of none other then Jessica Witty! She was wearing the cutest outfit with these colors!  Here she is with Anabelle O. and I. Can you believe that I can't remember where I put my purse sometimes , and I, on more than one occasion, absentmindedly put something in the fridge that doesn't belong there ... oh, like the box of cereal but I can remember an OUTFIT from 3 months ago? Sheesh. LOL!

  

Can you see the Jessica-ish vibe going on here? Hmmm... Miss Anabelle looks pretty inspiring too!

I used the Largest Diamond shape with the largest dashed X image for the Lemon tart argyle and the Medium Diamond image for the Smoky Shadow ones.

 

This card also shows a full length of the vertical side of the Argyle impression plate. I love how the impressed portions have a sharp line while the paper that isn't is a little rounded. I turned out just as I had hoped when I designed it!

16 is a big number around here lately. My oldest daughter just turned 17 and my 2nd oldest is 15 1/2. So, we have a lot of girly friends that are hitting this milestone and one fast approaching her own. I need quick, easy and mass producible sweet 16 cards. AND A LOT OF THEM!

 

This simple pattern arrangement makes for a visually pleasing card too. See the visual triangles with the Hibiscus Burst elements. You can see the solid medium X image over the white diamond image!

 

Soft Stone and any pink color is an amazing combination! (and oh-so retro 80's.) This would EASILY work for a guy by just switching up the colors (pink to blue or green.) Dawn's Top Ten additions set provides several other word choices too!

I hope you have had some fun with these simple cards today. Simple WOWs used to be extremely hard for me and now they are my favorite!

Introducing: A Little Argyle & Chair-ished!

 Talk about exciting!!! I have two fun sets releasing this month with Papertrey Ink... as well as an Impression plate and a few dies!

Let's get right to it!

• A Little Argyle ($24) An easy and fantastic argyle building stamp set. It has so many mix and match possibilities because of it's interchangeable images... super versatility! I'm totally in love with this set and was literally dreaming of  pattern and color combinations while I was waiting for it to arrive. (I've also become slightly addicted to it!) LOL!

• Chair-ished ($15) A fun and quirky chair centered stamp set. Featuring 9 images and 7 sentiments that are full of sweet comfort and feelings of friendship. Also a follow up set to On My Couch and On My Couch Additions.  The images are to scale with both Couch sets and the sentiments from all three sets can work together... everything is interchangeable! You are going to LOVE it!

• Argyle Impression Plate ($16) is a fantastically simple Diamond Argyle pattern. Each side of the plate has the pattern oriented to fit vertical and horizontal cards!This impression plate literally goes with every style. Very cool!

• On My Couch Die set ($8) The perfect dies to fit the oh-so-popular Couch and Chair from On My Couch and Additions! Aren't you excited about these! You asked for them... and you got them!!! These are going to fly out the door!

Now onto the projects! Make sure to click on them to gets a bigger and more detailed view!

This first card uses a little bit of everything. (except the dies)

  

For the backgrounds...starting at the top layer...I stamped the Large dashed line argyle first in Raspberry Fizz onto Rustic White cardstock then filled in the spaces with the Largest diamond image in Sweet Blush. Next I trimmed a strip of Sweet Blush cardstock and stamped the Small solid line argyle in raspberry fizz and filled in with the medium diamond in sweet blush. The bottom strip is impressed with the argyle impression plate! (I have a much bigger sample of the impression plate to share tomorrow!)

Here is a close up to the Wingback chair in the set! It's such a fun image and holds so many paper piecing possibilities! I chose to color this one in with my Copic Markers. It took just a minute. Love it! I'm also really loving these new Zva Creative pearls.

This next card showcases the two images in the set that took FOREVER to illustrate. The (ever so requested) Dog and the Rocking chair! I don't have any dogs right now, but I had a few growing up. My gal pal, Joan, has a pup named Taylor Ann... This is my interpretation of her. She is a slender black lab. We had a German shorthaired pointer growing up and if I wanted this pup to resemble that I would just not ink up much of the tail. Fun huh! This could easily be many other breeds.

   

So let's talk a little about this argyle pattern. I used the large solid argyle image in a red color. then I stamped the large dashed image over it. Next I used the smallest diamond image to  stamp in a light caramel color over the cross section of the dashed image. Lastly, I added a little heart in black over some of the cross sections in the red sections (the heart is from lOvE songs). Imaging being able to customize your argyle with additional images for holidays too!

 

If you look close at the dog... you will spy his little nose and even the curve of his mouth. It took me hours to perfect this babe! I sort of feel like a proud mama sharing it with you for the first time! Now, don't you just love how longingly the dog seems to be looking at the empty chair. Oh, and I forgot to mention the cute little chair rug. It's all in the details!

Christmas? Yep... I thought I would show you a Holiday gift bag and the Chair Die!

 

The bag is simply stamped with the large dashed lines in Ripe Avocado ink. The Large Solid argyle image is stamped on the Scarlet Jewel cardstock that has been die cut with the medium scallop die. The circle behind the chair image is stamped with the solid (In Scarlet Jewel) and dashed (in Ripe Avocado) images.

Did you ever imagine a chair being a holiday image? It works SO great here with the sentiment from Home for the Holidays!

I stitched a little knot in the middle of the pillow to coordinate it with the buttons. Oh... and isn't that Die to DIE for! heehee! I used the solid Images for the chair from On My Couch.... one of the sets that these dies coordinate with!

I'm so happy that I've finally gotten to share these products with you! These sets have been in the works for a very long time and it's so neat to be able to create with them! I can't wait to hear what you think of everything!

Argyle Inspiration

I thought I would share some fun inspirational photos of some argyle items that are floating around the web. I personally have been in love with this pattern since I was a child. I have socks from over TEN years ago, that have no holes, that I still wear because I love them. I bought them at the Gap when I worked there while Chris was getting his MBA. It was a "just for the fun of it" job... for the discount (we WERE poor collage kids). I have since acquired MANY pairs! LOL!

Go-To Sketches Blog Hop!

I absolutely LOVE Maren and feel so honored that she asked me to play along! Here is her sketch!

Here is my little take on Maren's awesome sketch!

  

I created this for a little girl who is getting baptized soon.  I used my set, Heavenly Medley, for the majority of the card. The curved top and bottom were stamped with the largest image from Vintage Labels. I really wanted a bright, cheery  and playful card since this is for young girl. That's one thing that I think has helped me be a well rounded designer. I tend to design for someone in mind or simply think of someone and how they would like the image/project.

 

A little close up of the Rainbow and sentiment. Check out the fun Zva Creative bling! isn't that a pretty color! I've been trying out working in complementary color mode instead of matchy matchy... which I think is my typical style.
