Ah yes... December 1st is here! Every month I am more surprised by how fast time flies... 2009 has gone by with super sonic speed! And guess what? Today is Papertrey Ink's Senior DT challenge! This is a great one too... Homemade ornaments!
Every year I make ornaments for my daughters.... they love it because they get to hang their own ornaments each year! I try to make something totally different than the year before. This year I thought It would be interesting to combine paint and glass with my Papertrey Goodies!
Here's the little ornament I came up with...
I purchased these semi-flat bulbs at Micheal's last year in their clearance sale... but I'm pretty sure they are a staple supply there are Christmas time. I used an antique White paint... that is really very dark with a tint of yellow. Next I stamped an image from Background Basics: Text Style using Vintage Cream ink. I lightly heat set it then applied some silver/black metallic chalk (Pebbles Inc) onto the script. The "Joy" Sentiment (From Holiday Button Bits) was then stamped in Noir ink. Next I stamped and trimmed two of the Holly leaves, in Ripe Avocado ink, from the set and adhered them next to three threaded Pure Poppy Buttons.
The last thing was adding a few faux pearl embellishments from Zva Creative. I used the circular one to help with the focal point. (I could have stamped a circle too... It was something I added last though) and the larger pearl to accent the lovely Pure Poppy Satin Ribbon. I wish my camera could have picked up how really elegant this is. :) Oh... and one last touch was to add some button Twine to the metal loop to hang in from. It's ready to give and use right away now!
What trimmings do you like to make during this season?
Make sure to check out the Other Senior DT projects. Nichole and Annabelle are also playing along!
