I've been watching my girls read a ton... I listen to audio books mostly... I read a ton that way... I have to admit that I love Children's and Young adult novels... I love when they are a series! I just finished the Underland Chronicles. Loved it. I have devoured all of the Stefanie Meyer books... and and dying for Brisinger to be released! I'm getting ready for the Charlie Bone series... but am waiting for School to start (when I will have more consolidated time at home) since the library only has cassette tapes for the first few books and I only have a CD player in my car. You might be asking WHY I like such a younger genre of literature? I like that almost all of them are "clean" (almost is still a key word there), I like that there is no/very minimal profanity...I like that they usually teach good moral lessons or intrigue me into innocent fantasy... I'm very much a fiction gal! I never listen to the radio any more... I'm so far out of it in that area of the world... and, I have found that Ella, even though she is only 5, will listen to them with me...and I enjoy talking to her about the stories! (She loved listening to Eragon and Gregor) I have tried to venture into more adult literature but am usually dissapointed by "f" bombs and turn the book off. If any of you have any great, clean adult reading suggestions, please let me know!

 Ok... I'm yadda yadda-ing here....moving on... I rarely create anything for myself and thought I would make a bookmark, using my Remember stamp set,  for my scriptures!

  I'm challenging myself to some serious scripture reading this fall... I'm hoping that I will be reminded and motivated by this bookmark. It's Physically harder for my to look down at a book for a long period of time.... silly neck of mine.... but I'm setting time goals. This little pretty will hold that place for me... I could easily make a ton of these too... for friends!

Notice I have no button? :( It pained me not to add one... but I knew it would cause some issues in my scriptures... and they are more precious to me than I can say. Here is a close up...

I used Copic Markers to color everything in... I LOVE coloring... and these are so therapeutic to use. *Sigh* I love just sitting there coloring! I can't imagine how it will feel when I get a few more hours of practice under my belt and I feel less insecure about using them. What's really cool to me is the ability to shade...It brings back some of the painting concepts I used to use... such as establishing a fulcrum (Using your non drawing fingers to stabilize your hand making it easier to pivot in small areas.) while detailing ...and floating the colors for a blended feel. It amazes me how my past can overflow  my work today!

Wow... I'm sorta long winded today, sorry about that... I'm enjoying the down time while I write I think. Ella has kept me hoppin' today... We went to the mall in Burlington and she chose what stores to go into... think Candy and smelly lotions, LOL! We snagged a quick bite before seeing "The Journey to the Center of the Earth" ...which I was glad wasn't in 3D... I would have jumped out of my seat, it was more intense than I thought... but VERY cool.... Ella loved it! The next stop was to Micheal's, my suggestion of course, where we found a TON of craft kits for kids marked down to between 20 and 40 cents each! Can you say Birthday party favors? Yep... I stocked up BIG TIME! she was pretty excited too! :) Finally we went  dinner,Teriyaki. Now I just want to melt into bed... she tired me out! LOL!

Have a great rest of the weekend...Relax on Sunday. As Steven R. Covey would say... "sharpen your saw". I plan on doing just that! (and taking a nap!) Then... onto a week of fun!

Remembering To Thank You

I thought I would play at a SCS challenge.... it's been forever since I have just stamped for something fun like this!

Here is my card.... for the Torn challenge!

It's another quick and easy.... but I can see myself making several of these. I used Remember for all of the stamping.

It's been a little while since I've torn something and It brought some fun ideas to mind for sure. I sponged the edges to really show off the torn edge.

I'm having a mommy daughter weekend with Ella.... Chris is taking Pepper fishing and I am going to make the most of the one on one time with Ella. It's gonna be a blast! I hope you have a great weekend too.... get some stampin' in!!!

Get Well Wishes

I seriously LOVE floral sets... I could own hundreds and not get sick of using them. Flowers speak so much, in so many different ways! Papertrey Ink's Floral Frenzy is such a fun set to use. I love the font mixtures that are featured in the set.

I wanted a more rustic feel to this card... the Kraft, Plum Pudding and Vintage Cream Cardstock really added to it.... as well as the  coordinating Plum Pudding and Dark Chocolate  inks. I just HAD to add that button too. LOL! I used natural hemp to adorn the center. The ribbon is slipped through a little slit I cut with my craft knife. (I recommend EVERY crafter having one... it's invaluable!)

I seriously need to make a tn of these with fall around the corner... we seem to get  a lot of flu and colds in this area. For now though... I will keep this on hand for a later time... cause the sun has been shining here! Whoohoo! I'm going to just have my two youngest girls this next week... and I'm going to try to take advantage of any good weather we get! School doesn't start here until the first week of September. I'm just not ready for that... I need another month. *sigh*

Flutterby Gospel

There are a lot of fun butterfly images that are out there... and I thought I would share this lovely Flutterby paper that Webster's Pages has with these sweet butterflies! the opposite side is the blue print on the bottom. So lovely!

This sentiment from Out on the Limb sentiments is one of my very favorite...It hits home for me. I find myself reaching for this set a lot in my creative process. I love the elegant fonts as well as the feelings the sentiments portray. I wanted to skew the layers a little to give it a little twist too. I used Papertrey Ink's Dark Chocolate for the ink... it's by far my favorite brown now. So deep and rich! I cant tell you how much I love buttons! I remember a few years ago having editors requesting that I take buttons off certain projects... and while I complied gladly with their request, I still missed the buttons! LOL! One such card made the cover of PapercraftsMagazine too! I still get a giggle when I think of that... and am glad that they requested the removal! LOL! Now they are even more popular... and my button removal requests are nil. :)

Bee Happy

I LOVE the Honey Bee's set... I felt like playing with it in combination with my sewing machine... simple stitching.

One thing I like about Honey Bees is the little hive image... so nice to make background images with!

I thought about using some ribbon, but in the end I liked the stitching as the only embellishment... making it have a natural feel... especially with the Spring Moss and Lemon Tart cardstock.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I take my older girls (15 & 13)  to the airport tomorrow to head out to St. Louis to see Chris' family. I'm really nervous about them flying alone for the first time... I will be on pins and needles, praying for them until I know they are safe!

Oh... I wanted to make note of some of the changes on my blog. I've been toying with some new graphics... making custom headers for lists and such. The bookplate labels are links as well. (that took this untrained lady a few hrs to figure out... whew) I will be toying with the different looks and feels over the next few weeks... thanks in advance for your patience as I "redecorate"! :) I hope you will love it when all is said and done!

Simple Thanks Nugget Tin

I thought I would share a quick post about this little hospitality nugget tin I made for my husbands Boss and his wife for inviting us to a dinner party. It's a simple quick project but made them smile!

 This was seriously a 5-7 minute project!  

I used Limitless labels as well as Shapes by Design to create the stamped images... and the Papertrey large hinged tinto place the goodies into. It's pretty straight forward... stamp the labels... make a mini card. watch them eat the yummy treats! LOL! the Everyday Blessings 12x12 papers were fantastic in helping bring it all together!

August 2008 Papertrey Ink Release

I hope you all had a chance to check out the Papertrey Ink August Gallery... it's breathtaking! It's always so cool to see what the other DT members create... and this months Papertrey Ink release was exceptional!

I wanted to quickly share a few of my creations for this month...check the gallery for the full supply list!

Pine's 1st set is such an amazing set to work with... simple yet versatile. Congrats my friend! I broke out my white paint for this one... I LOVE Pure Poppy... so glad this bright and vivid red came to PTI!

I wanted to do a fall project as well... I triple stamped the wreath in Poppy, Moss, Sunrise to achieve the warm feel. the brown wooden button was the final hearty touch.

I LOVE this cat in Spoky Sweets II! his little whiskers are so lovable! I tried t create something like "the haunted Mansion" (Disneyland) when making this. In review, I would have added a Plum layer under the circle for some contrast.

Lastly, I know this too is simple, but I was excited to have this slide idea with the acorn! I was just sitting there looking at the First Fruits set on its sheet... rotating it... and the idea POPPED into my head. I was giddy!

Recycled Book Mark

School is just around the corner for our daughters. I've finished gathering all of my school supplies and am getting in the mindset of what is coming. I've some deep mixed feelings about summertime ending. I'm not ready to have them start... but I know they are ready to head back.  I usually try to do something special for that first day of school and have found that the older my girls get the harder it is for me to do that. My oldest is going to be a sophomore this year... *GASP*... (I'm still in shock.) All of my daughters are book worms...  I am often taking books away to get them to do their chores. Alex has a summer reading assignment for her Sophomore Honers English and that made me think of creating a special bookmark just for her... something that she could use not only to mark her spot but to pace her reading.

I peeked through all my Papertrey stash and chose a few images to use. I also knew I wanted to use Berry Sorbet since it's a color that she loves!The frame from the Wedding Day stamp set was just about the right size for this project... as well as the sweet butterfly, they are SO hot right now! Woman of Life has those awesome female relationship sentiments... and I pulled the "sweet" sentiment from the Sweet Loveset. Finally, I knew I wanted to put her initials in the mix... for a more mature feel... since she is becoming a young woman. (ACK! She is officially taller than I am now... no large feat... but still.... ACK!)

I added a slot to thread my Berry Sorbet Saddle Stitch ribbon through...

When we moved into our house the fridge had several large magnetic ads. I took them off and set them in my "to be recycled" drawer... I just knew I would be able to make something with it. I pulled the sheets out and punched out two circles with my Super Jumbo Clever Lever punch.

I wanted to make sure that my magnetic sheet had optimum chance of sticking together... So I removed the Ad paper from it. Zip Dry is my favorite paper glue for any high use project... it's a real "get it done" product!

The magnets are adhered to the back of both stamped circles and can stick together if just  a few pages are between them... or act as a weight if thier is a lot of pages.

Here is the finished bookmark...

and the focal side in a family favorite book! Alex can now count out her reading  assignments and hold her spot at the same time. I'm going to sneak this into her binder the night before school starts and hopefully it will brighter her first day of school! I plan on making more of these for all my daughters... since they chew through books at lightning speed! I hope you will try this "Green" project too!

Remember Countdown: Final day!

This is the last official day of the countdown for my newest stamp set, Remember ... through Papertrey Ink. This countdown has led us down to the day that you can purchase this stamp set, 12:01am EST on Aug. 15th!

While preparing for this final day I played with a few different color combinations. I wanted to try the new Papertrey Ink color, Pure Poppy, with the existing PTI colors and found this bright and trendy combination!

Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet and Spring Moss! I loved the way Pure Poppy teased brightness out of the other colors...very pleasing to the eye in person.

There are a few little design notes that I thought I would point out... the Bling is a combination of a button and a gem. (it makes me think of a retro doorknob!)  I chose a sentiment from the "Out of the Limb sentiments" stamp set that reflects a feeling I wanted to portray, playing on the flower focal image as well. The vellum allowed me to include the sentiment without having to layer it but still being able to set it apart. The torn edge made an unbelievable difference with this card...It was too structured prior and the soft feather of the edge reflects the intended texture of the focal Poppy.

The other thing I wanted to point out is how well Remember works with all sizes of cards... large enough for this 4x8 inch card... small enough for a 4X4. I remember printing the set several times checking the size to make sure it was doable for this. I'm really happy with the versatility of the final size!

 Here is another fun tall card...or in this case... long card. I used the Rock & Roll technique with both of the solid flower stamps... using Lemon Tart and the base and Berry Sorbet and Summer Sunrise as the rolled ink. It's really hard to see, but there is some serious sparkle on the card as I used coordinating Twinklettes to highlight  the flowers... it's SO pretty, I wish you could see it.

And finally... back to a traditional color combination...

I decided after yesterdays post I would try my hand at using Copic Markers with the Double Bloom combination. Let me preface this post by saying that I am a fledgling at using these and have had zero training...Yes... I have used them before... had things published with them... but I am just learning how to truly use them. I know this isn't news to many of you... but the blender pen is invaluable!

I loved the ability to pull color off...such a unique ability! It was therapeutic to color... I throughly enjoyed using them and found them to be a nice distraction today. :)

Remember Countdown: Day 2

Today I wanted to show you some tips and tricks using my newest stamp set, Remember. (for those of you just joining us.. it's being released on August 15th through Papertrey Ink!)

With over 120 varieties... Poppies take different shapes, sizes, colors and petal count. That can be quite the conundrum when designing a stamp set... honestly, I could have created 6 or more sets if I wanted to specifically design for each flower... just blooms and leaves, no sentiments. I tried to create the Poppies loosely so that youcould interpret the Poppy images the way you wanted within the set. Fast forward to after I received my prototype set.... playing with different perspectives... studying ever further the possible species that I could create with it. While in this process I discovered how to simulate some of those that I had not planned on... I just giggled at the discovery!

Blue Himalayan Poppy {Meconopsis Betonicifolia}: This lovely yet rare Poppy has a unique petal formation... I was elated to discover how easy it was to create one. Simply take the Blooming Poppy image and stamp them like so....you can switch the direction of the stamp so the pointy side is out if you want... there is a variety that has Trillium like petals that this would look like.

Here is my version of this lovely flower...I didn't have the perfect blue... but chose a softer blue for this card because I wanted the sentiment to be surrounded by softness. I used a Yellow Twinklette pen to add glitter to the center of the flower.

Papertrey's new Linen Vellum was the perfect touch of texture for this card... a little sponging helped magnify that. When designing the stamp set...I made sure that this sentiment fit into a Mega scalloped rectangle punch by Marvy.. I fell in love with Marvy's punches a few years back and that is what drew me to work with them. Notice the faint artistic doo-dad (for lack of a better word) under the sentiment? I had a blast creating that one! It can also be inked  in half and used as a leaf for a sharper leaf look!

Double Shirley Poppy {Papaver rhoeas}: Frilly and delicate...multi-petaled bloom.

The trick with this flower is SO COOL!

see the frilly bud image?... I stamped it first 3 times on one side of the paper creating just over a half circle.

next I filled in the other side. If you struggle when trying to recreate this flower... think of and asterisk! I stamped it in that exact pattern.

I added the smaller of the Poppy circle centers then a large aged copper brad for the center to add some dimension. I chose to fill in the color the easy way... using the coordinating solid image to do so. Imagine this flower colored in with Copic markers. *grin* Ohhhh Debbie!!! LOL!

TIP: If you stamp a lighter color over a darker color using Palette ink you may lift some of the darker color from the initial image. If you are going to use that stamp in the same light color make sure you clean it between each stamping...if not you might get these dark shadows on your project...or even transfer a strong shadow of the illustration... not fun. (ask me how I know this, LOL!)

Finally, the finished card! I'm tickled at how it turned out. I also wanted to point out the circular sentiment. I created it to fit into the smallest of the Marvy scalloped circle punches... AND I made sure that there were a few other things with this sentiment...

Yesterday I had some extra cookies and my neighbor brought over some flowers from her garden... totally brightened my day! I quickly created this little bag of cookies for her using that same sentiment. I want to point out the intentional gap where the stem can go through if you desire. Also, the smallest flower fits perfectly in the center! You may be thinking... "where is the period and the end of the sentence?" well... there is a "..." image in the set that has been included that you can use as well as joining any of the other sentiments. I couldn't help include it... I use those three periods all the time in my own writing... so it felt natural. LOL... SEE, I keep doing it!

Remember Countdown: Day 3

Before I get into today's project I wanted to welcome all the newcomers that have made their way here via Typepad! I feel honored to be todays Typepad featured blog! I think their article about Poppy Paperie will go live at 10 AM Aug. 12.

Now... on to the fun stuff! Did you know that I was born in California? Yep... true story. I consider myself an Alaskan since I lived there from the time I was 6 years old... but I have fantastic outdoor memories of my childhood beginnings in Northern California...of the sandy beaches, the sunshine... the steep drive to Santa Cruz...the Redwood stumps in the forests of Ben Lomand filled with moss that I used as a playhouse...Chasing quails through the brush...and the California Poppies that filled the hillsides where ever I went! Today I wanted to highlight how to create California style Poppies using my new stamp set, Remember! (Available August 15th through Papertrey Ink.)

I was inspired by a new friend I made through my church for this project. I had been at her house practicing a solo with her, as she had been willing to be my accompanist. I took a few moments while grabbing a sip of water and noticed several poppy decorations. Yep... you guessed it... we chatted up a storm about them...and I discovered that her favorite flower was the California Poppy! I decided that day that I just had to make her something special with my Poppy set to thank her for her hard work playing the piano for me. Before I left her kitchen I noticed some herbal tea on the counter and my concept was born!

The first thing I did was grab some chamomile tea and take off the little paper tabs at the end of the strings. Next I punched out 2 scalloped circles for every teabag.

I stamped half  of the circles with the Poppy, stem and leaf images... along with the Peaceful sentiment. I used Simple Alphabet to add the "TEA" sentiment. On the other half  of the punched circles I stamped the larger swirl image that is found in Remember. I LOVE swirls! I then sponged the edges to add that favored warmth. Imagine this little tag hanging off the side of a favorite mug.

I knew I needed to come up with something fun to put the tea bags into so I carried the tag design over to this fun tin available at Papertrey Ink.  

Bonus Idea: Take your Remember stamp set to a local Ceramic store and create a custom mug to accompany this gift. It will take a few days before you get it back but will prove to be sentimental to the recipient!

As I thought of a cup of yummy herbal tea... I thought how nice it would be to have a cookie with it... so off I went in search for a Poppy Seed recipe! here is the one I found...Lemon Poppy Seed Recipe

The recipe calls for fresh lemon zest! I loooooove lemon and the way the fragrance fills the room. I much prefer citrus scents over floral. *sigh*

Having 4 daughters makes cooking baking require some choreography... Everyone wants to help in some way or another. Hannah gladly took on the job of harvesting the fresh lemon juice. (here is a little tip...if you roll your lemon firmly prior to squeezing, you will have an easier time getting juice!)

Here is the cookie dough all ready for overnight refrigeration. It was hard for me to be patient... and not eat the dough on top of it all!

These taste YUMMY...with that hint of Lemon and the nutty flavor of the Poppy Seeds...I had a hard time letting them go! LOL!

Now for a pretty package... I used 3 of the swirls and the circle from Remember to decorate the front of this bag. I like the window... but really wanted the Poppy to be the "Star" of the bag instead of the cookies...

Here is the finished bag... highlighting my version of a California Poppy. I used the sentiment "for being a friend" as a giving sentiment... but it can be combined with the "Thank You" Sentiment from the first day of the countdown.

Here is a close up of the Poppies. California Poppies tend to be very monochromatic. When I was designing Remember, I had created two poppy centers that were what I consider traditional... I noticed later that there were some Poppy centers that I had not taken into account... ones that resembled the top of a seed pod. Prior to sending the final set to Papertrey I made some adjustments to include that center to make the set more versatile. You can see the seed pod in the card I made to accompany the gifts! Read on to see how I just used two ink colors on the large Poppy. :)

You can see the progression of the Poppy in this card... the bud, blossom and seed pod. I'm particularly proud of the seed pod as it took quite a few hours to perfect. I also wanted to make mention of the stems... I used a rustic style brush in my graphics to enable a more Poppy style stem. you can almost feel the fuzz! Another fun thing I wanted to mention is how easy it is to create subtle layers with the same color of Palette ink. The Poppy on the card is stamp solid first with Summer Sunrise then the line drawn image over it in the same ink. It simply and subtly deepens the color in the area that is stamped again.

Here is a closer look at the images. I created a custom button using PolyShrink by Lucky Squirrel... love that stuff. The C.S. Lewis quote embodies so much emotion to me and can be applicable for many occasions. In this case I remembered a moment during my solo that felt so spiritual and surreal.. and a feeling of gratitude for my friend washed over me. I wanted to share that with her in the card.

The finished ensemble feels peaceful and soothing to me... exactly what I was trying to portray. I hope it will bring her some joy too!

Remember Countdown: Day 4

Today I thought I would share some of the fun things I have done with fabric using my new stamp set  Remember, being released on August 15th  through Papertrey Ink!

Being the poppy connoisseur that I am I spent some shopping time looking for Poppy shirts for my 4 Daughters and I. Much to my chagrin I was unable to find one for my daughter, Pepper. That just wasn't cool in my book. Pepper and I discussed the options and she asked if I could make one for her with my new Poppy stamp set. Now let me just say that I do not consider myself a fabric artist in the least. I was willing to give it a try since I learned a few tricks at CHA with  Marvy Uchida's DecoFabric markers. So, while we were at Target, Pepper chose a shirt to decorate!

When you are working with any liquid medium and fabric, I recommend using some type of flat & hard barrier to act as a support and protectant for the back of the project. I used these long pieces of thick chipboard I got from a friend.

This also acts as a protectant and reflector for the heat tool I will use later.

The next step is to choose the fabric marker colors you want to use. I use the stamps to create a tracing pattern for me to color. I forgot to snap the photo of the pattern all stamped out (sorry), you can see some in the next photo though. The trick in doing this is to use a lighter dye ink that you know will wash out when you are finished. This makes it easier to correct any mistakes during this part. You just ignore them when tracing/coloring and then wash the shirt when you are finished.

Now you can start coloring the stamped pattern.

These fabric pens are fun to blend. I used pink and white together with the small flower. Here is a leaf right before being blended. color in your image then while still wet, add some highlight colors.

Now take the dark pen again and pull the lighter color down to blend.

 Once all of the pattern has been colored in, add touches of glitter to highlight your images. Next you can stamp the Poppy center images (There are 2 different sizes)  into the center of the Poppies with the dye ink. (I use Grey) Next I added some Violet Puffy Velvet Marker over the flower center pattern. I didn't want to have the harshness that black would have brought.

Heat set in order to activate the puff!

I just had to show you how fun the Puff is. It adds so much to the final appearance. My kids always crack up when I "Puff"!

Now, The final project... modeled by Pepper herself! She was so happy when I finished it...I think it's adorable on her and she will wear it with pride since she helped plan it out and watched me make it!

Are you up to one more thing? While playing with the markers I just HAD to make something else, RIGHT? LOL! Pretty straight forward...

This bag will be used as a scripture bag to tote things to church in. I love how warm and cheery it turned out.

There are a few different tricks I used with this bag. I wanted the stems and leaves to be lightly colored in even though the olive marker was a darker color. I used a light touch to accomplish this. In the center of the red Corn Poppies (the smallest of the solid Poppy images) I used the pink marker to add some variegation to the bloom. Also, After I added the Silver Just glitter to the California Poppies I used my finger to blend the line a little... I wanted a softer feel and that really helped. The Pure Poppy Saddle Stitched ribbon added the perfect finishing touch!

Remember Countdown: Day 5

If you are a frequent visitor here at Poppy Paperie you have probably caught on to the fact that I ADORE Poppies! (see the Poppy FAQ's page I composed for some detailed info on Poppies if you wish!) They have layers of meaning and symbolism to me. Even before being invited to submit stamp sets to Papertrey Ink I was hard at work trying to improve my illustration skills to the point that I could create an acceptable poppy. You have seen the result of that effort in my blog banner as well as my logo and my box band that I designed for my Papertrey Ink stamp sets.When the opportunity came for me to submit, I worked fervently to improve on my images to create a set that would embrace the beauty of this vibrant flower as well as be versatile enough to create multiple varieties and artistic styles. I also felt a strong need for the sentiments to reflect the delicate strength that I find so endearing in poppies. I was extatic when they chose it! Without further ado... may I joyfully present Remember.

Remember is a elegantly whimsical Poppy building set with a whopping total of 43 images, both solid and line drawn for optimum versatility. There are 6 different Poppy images that can be used separately or in combination for a two step look. There 4 different sizes of leaves, several swirl/flourish images, decorative brackets and artisic doo-dads!

I wanted to kick of the countdown with a one of the traditional feeling Poppy colors for my project. Red, or in this case Papertrey's newest color... Pure Poppy! Isn't that just the most perfect name for a good red! The first thing I did was stamp the solid and then the doodle image over it. I repeated that with the leaves and trimmed them out.

To add some warmth I added some sponging. I like to use the driest possible sponge when doing this. I ink up my sponge then test it on scratch paper. If it's even close to being splotchy I rub it into the scratch paper. The motion I use is more of a sweeping/rubbing than a pouncing. I sponged every aspect of the card. I also wanted the card to have girl next door feel to it...Heather has some fun images in her new set and I thought it would be fun to use her small, loosely spaced dots to accent the background. The polka-dotted circle helps frame the focal image perfectly.

The next step was to assemble my elements. I realized after I had done so that I needed stems after all. So I quickly grabbed my pencil and marked where I wanted them to be.

A quick erasing cleaned it up when I was done stamping my stems in black.

Here is the finished card, all assembled! These represent to me the Oriental Variety.. Large blooms, frilly budding blossoms, deep colors, large broad leaves. It all just makes me smile... hugely!

Design Note: The "Thank You", for Remembering me." and swirl are 3 separate images! There are 2 other sentiments that can be used in conjunction with the "Thank You" sentiment. I like being able to create long or stacked sentiments... so separating them seemed like the choice to make them more versatile! Isn't that little swirl fun! That is just one of the many in the set... and the smallest. :)

Now... I just couldn't do ONE project for the first day... so I created a companion note pad. One of the best pieces of advice I could ever give is to create more than one thing while you have all of your supplies out... saves a ton of time in the long run!

Quick, simple and fun! Notice all the fun ribbon... YUMMY huh! It was awesome to find some Doodlebug buttons in my stash to match it! I thought long and hard about adding stamped images on the front of the kraft notebook. I'm sort of a plain gal in real life...I loved it how it was, so I left it. I envision this note book to be used as either a journal or a "things to remember" book.

Here is the ensemble together! I'm hoping that this will bring a smile to someones face!

Warm Thank You Card

It's been a little while since I posted a card... so I thought I would share this with you today. It seems that I've had more need lately for Thank You cards... Flower Garden and Flower Garden Sentiments are great for that.

  As I have mentioned in the past, I'm addicted to sponging. To me it adds SO much to a card... depth and warmth. One thing that is a must for me is to have the sponge be almost dry with the ink before coming to the cardstock. This adds a gentle and not overwhelming effect.

I used Marvy's awesome Flower punches again... They are lovely or trendy depending how you use them. I also used Plum Pudding, Spring Moss and Kraft Papertrey products.

Now... today I am working on somthing special for my Stamp Set countdown starting on Aug 10th using my newest set through Papertrey Ink! I've been up to some new things that I havnt shown you before and I'm really excited to see hat you think. I'm really in love ith this set! Nichole will be giving you a sneek peak tomorrow... I can't wait to see your guesses!

Today I am in Tacoma WA. We arrived yesterday to take my eldest DD to EFY (for the week) and then the rest of us went to the Washington State museum. Hannah is taking US History as a home-school class over the summer and it was a "field Trip". She was accepted to the middle school challenge program but they are doing world History this year... she took that last year and will be taking it again within the program. (she'll know that history reeeeeeally well!) That left here needing a US History credit. hence the home-school. It's been very interesting and nice to spend that extra time with her. I thought it would be fun to spend the night and take them to the Point Defiance Zoo while we were already down here. They were up before the sun this morning and I'm trying to contain them until 10am when the zoo opens. LOL! Imagine 3 girls bouncin' around the hotel room! LOL!

• I sent Chris out fishing so I can clean the house.
• I will leave my clean studio CLEAN... no stamping for me today...it has to stay clean because Chris' part off the office will stay clean then and it will make him happy. :)
• I have to make a birthday cake for Chris' 39th Birthday tomorrow...even though he keeps saying 38. LOL! I'm older than him by 7 months so I KNOW! LOL!
• Will not think about turning 40 in 5 month. heehee.
• I HAVE to eat some veggies... craving some for some strange reason. Maybe it's because the weather's been bleak and my energy feel drained?
• Is the Anacortes Arts Festival! Our little city is ALL about festivals and fairs in the streets. there are several every month in the summer. Very cultured ones at that.
• I will look for art that contains poppies at the Art Festival. Especially a large oil painting. This Artist, Jennifer Bowman,  will be exhibiting and I'm giddy to see here work. She has several  Poppy paintings in her online gallery. I'm hoping they will be even more lovely in person!
• I will visit with a friend from Bellingham that is exhibiting at the Festival... Check out his stuff here. Very Green stuff!
• We will try for the millionth time to get our kite to stay up. It's been gusty and the ind keeps spitting it back down to the ground.
• I will look at each of my children and tell them I love them unconditionally.
• I will be grateful for what is good in my life and pray that what isn't good will subside or I will find peace with it.
