The first of the month is when the Senior Papertrey Ink DT get to step up to a challenge... todays is "simply Irresistible" ... No ... really... it is! We have been challenged to create a project using a resist technique. I thought it would be fun to make something with the awesome Sail boat from Bitty Baby Blessings. My inspiration came from the amazing amount of sailboats that are out on the water today. We had sunny, but semi windy, weather and decided to take our kayaks out with the kids for a few hours to one of the local lakes. One was just riddled with small sailboats! It was so cool looking! I went for the more traditional nautical colors though for my card... the ones here have more Pacific NW colors.
I chose to do a simple rubber cement resist with the focal image on this card. I first stamped the image onto glossy cardstock (Prism) then used markers (Marvy) to color the boat in. The next step was to block out the areas that I wanted to resist the color I was to do next... so out came the rubber cement and pointed cosmetic Cotton applicators. I applied the cement and gave it a few minutes to dry... then I rolled my brayer into dye ink... light blue on one side and light green on the other. then I rolled it back and forth over the prepared image. After a few moments of sitting (to allow the ink to soak into the glossy cardstock) I lightly wiped the extra ink off the rubber cement... I then rolled the rubber cement off the glossy cardstock! I would usually use crayone resisit for a small image... but this was a more open image and it is more effect than Crayon Resisit.
I was feeling a bit nostalgic today as well. I added a little DTP, which used to be sort of a signature to me. I've moved away from it... but it felt so lovely to pick up that caramel pad and give my cardstock some lovin'! (it was like eating comfort food!) I also wanted to note the background stamping using the same boat on the blue cardstock and the circle strip image from Shapes by Design.
Thanks for popping by today, I hope you will check out the other DT members Blogs to see what they've made that is :"Simply Irresistible"!
Now... go and try something fun today... or maybe do an old stamping trick that brings back those comfort at home feelings! Enjoy your day!
Lisa
