A Few Organizational Tricks

It's that time of the year,CHA sample time.  I have several manufacturer deadlines nipping at my toes, in addition to an article for one of my Fav mags. I love the excitement that surrounds new products but hate not being able to share until Feb! :(

(We've also been hit with year end flue...I thought I would escape the whole deal when I made it through Christmas while nursing my DD's through it all... but no such luck. so I really need to get it together. *sigh*)

Since it is CHA time and I can't share much( ya know... 007 baby)... I wanted to share a few things I do to keep a little flow in my studio.

This is a little picture hanging hook. I find that I need my heat tool more often than not and it saves a bundle of time to keep it right by my side, plugged in,ready to draw! Hands Up paper... Gotcha! LOL! I just hammered it right into the desk. I also have one on the other side that holds my clipboard. This is another little ditty that I found at Daiso in Bellingham. (really missing Bellingham shopping... our biggest store here is Rite Aid... I kid you not!) I believe it's a sock/tie organizer. I saw it and instantly thought of my luscious WeR ribbon and how It needed a functional home. Miraculously each collection fits into its own section. It's like it was made for WeR! What a find!

A Ham for Christmas!

Ella had her Preschool play this...it was adorable. I know... I'm a proud Mama...but she did an incredible job dancing. Here she is adorned with precious reindeer antlers! she sang so sweetly and cracked everyone up with her rendition of the dancing bear. They sang Santa Claus is coming to town and she gave some serious attitude when "I'm telling you why" was sung... like a 16 yr old... it earned a rolling laugh trough out the house!This girl is a total ham! I have NO clue where she gets it from? ;) heehee. All my girls were there cracking up...and ducking from my camera.

How could we not be in the Christmas spirit after all that fun!?

Papertrey Passion!

It's that time again... where we on the Papertrey Ink DT get to share a little about our projects... and I'm trilled to share this month a few things that I created and the thoughts behind them.

This card was the first I made...about 5 min. after I opened the box! I love this little squirrel! It brought back fond memories of our little squirrel friend up in Bellingham, "Digger"! He was our litter visitor on a daily basis and even would come when we called him... we miss him!

This was the 2nd project that POPPED into my head....and has sparked a few future projects pending upcoming stamp sets ;)...

When I think of Valentines day... I think of Chris, of course, but I also think of friends....Friends I have learned to love like sisters. One friend in particular has been on my mind a lot as I have been missing her (She's up in Bellingham) She always makes fun little boxes and mini books so it was natural for me to think of her. She has been such a true friend and I need to tell her more often how much she has impacted my life for good! It's funny how it all works... I'm not looking to find a friend like her here in Anacortes, But rather BE a friend like her! Here's to you Joan! Miss ya! (sending this your way after Christmas.)

And finally... ya know... that favorite diet candy I have... well no one guessed it! Heehee! Dieting ...or rather changing my horrid eating habits (this has been a really bad year in weight gain for me... I lost a huge amount several years ago and its all back. *whimper*) Well here it is!

can you see it peeking behind the punched out image? That is a mini York Peppermint patty! 1 gram of fat for each patty! So when I feel like chocolate I can eat a few and not feel the ...well let's be real I never ever feel guilt just expanding thighs! LOL!

I wanted to make one "clean" and one "shabby" version of these easy matchbook valentines. Yes... the Johnson girls will be giving these this year in class... or their own version of them! :)

Christmas Cookies

Today I wanted to finish up some Christmas loose ends .... one of which was my blog graphics.. ;) The other was to get started on some Christmas cookies. I got to thinking how fun it would be to try some new recipes... do YOU have a favorite to share here for all of us to try?  would love to see! I have a fun cookie bag design I'm working on and would love to be able to fill it and give it to my local friends and let them know that my online friends gave me some recipes!

I can't wait to hear from you!

I created this card for a call for CardMaker's Christmas in July feature in their July 2007 issue.(see this issue for a full supply list and instructions) It was a fantastic feeling to have it picked up... it was a true joy to create! I thought I would share it with you today.

One of The things I try to do in my cards is to incorporate stamps even when it doesn't seem needed... to me the finished product has more depth. I also enjoy adding form to ribbon by using Fabri-tac to stiffen it a bit then form it before it dries.  This card still give me that "what fun I had" feeling!

OK Ladies... only a few more days until the Papertrey release... and I am SO excited for you all to see what the PT DT (heehee) has come up with using these fun new sets. I'm really excited to share the story behind one of mine... but that will have to wait until until the 15th ;) . One of the things that is really been fun is to incorporate different candy into one of my projects. You see... I have gotten SO fat from nuggets! I keep buying them and ... well... snarfing out on them! Bags at a time... I have no off button when it comes to chocolate.. and my almost 40 year old body has rebelled on me, LOL! I got to use my favorite diet candy  for these! Can you guess what it is?

Snowman in a Can

Here is a little gift or tabletop idea for this festive season... Snowman in a Can!

My girls were so excited when I made this and it became a source of tabletop fun this past Christmas. The snowman parts (From SU cold play)are stamped then adhered to a magnetic sheet before trimming. They then store in the can. Clearsnap's fluid chalk ink lends a little chill with its frost like flat finish. This is a little quart sized paint can and is a great size for little (and big) fingers. An additional idea to accompany it is to include some Snowman shaped meringues in a cellophane bag as a surprise treat inside! (This project originally appeared in the Feb 07 issue of PaperWorks magazine, see that issue for a full supply list and instructions)

Personal note: I actually went to a LSS yesterday! it was so nice to be able to browse and...well I wanted to wrap myself up in all their ribbon! We don't have a LSS in our new town but I was in Oak Harbor (next town over) Visiting the Pedodontist (We don't have one of those here either) and I spied it as I was leaving town. I just couldn't help but stop by. What a friendly group of ladies and they were very helpful. I would have stayed longer but Mommy duty called...I did manage to get myself some pretty ribbon though! I can't wait to head back after they move to check out their new digs! If you're ever in Oak Harbor check out Creative Heart!

Inspired Ornament

Every year I make or get a new ornament for my Daughters. This year I was totally inspired by Nichole's project and wanted to make one for each of my girls. I plan on putting little treats in them periodically through out the season too!  Thanks Nichole for the fantastic inspiration!

I used the Take a Bough  and B&C Circles stamp sets by Papertrey, scalloped and reg circle from Marvy Uchida, Certainly celery and whisper white cardstock (SU), Celery and Olive ink (SU) Versamark and micro-pearl pearl-ex. the inside is lined with a punched circle too.

The girls love them and were giddy as they trimmed the tree last night! They worked like busy bees and had the tree filled within minutes with all of their personal ornaments!

Ella had to sit with me for a few minute prior to this photo so I could explain about the candy cane rule... NO EATING THEM until Mom gives one as a treat! Last year we found several stuck in here hair at nap time as she has snook them. I told here she would get some and I would look for opportunities to reward her and the other girls with them. Hopefully we sill save on sticky mess... Probably not! LOL! Can ya tell how ecstatic she is to finally get her hands on them!

On a side note... Do you have this problem in your family... I mean, I like my decorative pillows...they are pretty... But I don't need a thousand photos of them! It seems that every-time I go to snap a pic of my older girls they feel inclined to showcase my pillows. Is this some sort of new epidemic? Do you see what I mean. Hannah hears that camera on witch and gets them all ready for their close up... even if I try to NOT shoot the pillow! Alex does it too...is it spreading...Will Pepper and Ella be next?
